What is the idea behind this site?

I’m bored of blogs forums and feeds. On Going Somewhere you explore the site by exploring the world map. Travellers can tag the locations they’ve visited write a description and upload a picture. Everyone can view all the locations tagged on the map. Each traveller can also view a user page which shows the locations of everywhere they have visited and a personal description.

How do I use this site?

It’s simple just click on the tag’s and click “view trip”. If you want to add information to the map click “Input Trip”

Why is there a 400 character minimum?

Because this is a site for travellers to describe their experiences. A picture is apparently worth a thousand words but it doesn’t convey any narrative. Where were you going? How long did you stay there? Who did you meet? What did you think of the place?

Every country has so much going on both in it’s physical landscape and in it’s people and society. 400 characters isn’t actually that much to describe a location that readers might know absolutely nothing about. If that’s too much for you then go back to instagram.

Why is there no user log in?

You don’t need one. Anyone can post with any user name. If you post under any username that user is created. Obviously this is something of a security flaw.

Currently there are no users so this was not a high priority. Hopefully some users will be arriving soon and I will be able to create and test passwords and other user functionality.

Why are there no comments/messages/other feature

The same as above answer. I want to create them, but I need users to use it or there’s no point.

Is there an app?

Do you have any idea how difficult it is to code an app? Hopefully it’s coming soon…..

Why are Elliot Rodger, George Orwell, Che Guevara and other misfirs users? Are you some kind of Misogy-Communist?

They are people who travelled with a purpose. This makes travel writing far more interesting to me. If the person is actually driven by a purpose going somewhere mentally as well as physically.

But also, because they are controversial. I want to hear about excitement and adventure, arguments and rip-offs. Things that you really shouldn’t have done.

You can write about getting wasted, getting lost, getting fired, lying to visa authorities, buying dubious gemstones, losing your keys, crashing your moped, joining a communist revolution.

Also all three of them were pretty good writers

Who created this place?

I know you’re thinking it must be a crack team of tech-startup engineers funded by a billionaire in silicon valley. Well actually it’s not.

Should I use my real name?

Well I’m not going to. There’s no reason to. Stay anonymous and you can tell much more exciting stories without risk of embarrassment or your employer finding out.

Are there any social media channels?

Not yet. But there’s also no users and I feel there could be a link here…..
